About the Protocol Labs Network

The recruiting team is supporting the Protocol Labs Network (PLN) -- a community of open source teams, projects, and organizations focused on researching, developing, and deploying network protocols to improve humanity’s most influential technology, the Internet. These Web3 teams and organizations are supported by the PL Ventures team through grants and investments – think of it as a VC + crypto fund model. As this ecosystem grows, these projects invest in the network itself, and the network grows along with it, which in turn benefits and incentivizes this ongoing evolution of Web2 to Web3. PLN is made up of 450+ projects, companies, and organizations. To note, this job posting is for the community of external companies inside of the PLN and is not for direct Protocol Labs employment.

Developer Relations responsibilities may include…

  • Start, lead, and grow an open-source community of individuals who are passionate about decentralized data storage and can help bridge the gap between web3 and web2
  • Work with product and engineering teams to identify opportunities and get the developer community excited about new challenges to solve
  • Write and maintain tutorials, guides, and documentation to help data owners understand the value proposition of Web3 projects
  • Own the development of technical and non-technical case studies (working closely with clients and solution architects) and push these to our community through various channels (blogs, social, docs, etc.)
  • Anything else that helps bring a project to the world and gets feedback from actual users

You may be a fit for this role if you have…

  • Extremely strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience writing documentation or producing other content to synthesize and simplify technical concepts for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with peer-to-peer, decentralized, or blockchain technologies
  • Experience with developer relations and developer support
  • A technical background and can code in one or more languages (preferably Rust, Python, Go, Javascript/TypeScript)
  • Enjoy taking initiative to solve open-ended problems
  • Created technical content, tutorials, and blogs
  • Spoke at conferences, developer summits, or virtual events
  • Experience teaching, writing, or hosting workshops

Bonus points…

  • Experience working with distributed systems (cyber security, cloud computing, networks, etc.)
  • Experience working in or managing open source software communities
  • Masters degree in computer science, adult education, or a related field
  • Prior experience in partner engineer or client facing support engineer
  • Worked in open-source software communities
  • Coordinated large events and conferences in the past
