Smashverse is looking for an experienced Senior Animator to join our team. We’re a fast growing company that is looking to invent a new genre of games and make our mark within the industry. We thrive on creativity and autonomy and are focused on building games that can stand the test of time. Roles are typically full-time salaried position and offer generous incentive packages so the entire team benefits greatly as the company grows.

What you will do?

Use traditional animation fundamentals to craft game motions that range from stylized to hyper-realistic
Lead the combat animation of a free-to-play PC game built
Support the Game Director in enhancing the overall design of the game
Work with the Lead Game Developer to create, test, and iterate on combat animations
Contribute to and implement the vision of the game
Work with the technical art team to bridge the gap between animation, art and engineering
Work autonomously to rapidly deliver feature prototypes
Establish and maintain good animation workflows
Create recruitment and development roadmap and work with the recruitment team to hire top talent

What are we looking for?

3+ years experience across multiple projects
1+ years of combat game experience
Ability to create combat animations
Technical animation skills such as rigging, skinning and scripting
Experience with motion capture editing
Strong animation fundamentals with a focus on human movement (timing, weight, balance)
Ability to think philosophically about character movement
Superb documentation and communication skills
Desire to contribute to the growth of the overall studio. Someone that wants to make the leap to becoming a senior leader within a studio.
Willing to proactively contribute to new ideas, able to give and receive feedback, and enjoy building an exciting and inclusive working environment
Able to work well on your own to develop ideas, vision, and direction for the team, as well as work as part of the larger team.
Willingness to take initiative and responsibility to ensure the quality of the game is not compromised
Worked across all life cycles of game development (concept, pre-production, production, live)

Additional skills/experience?

Experience working on combat animations
Experience working across different time zones
Able to work in both cartoony and realistic styles

Who will you report to?

You will report directly to the Founder of the Studio (Game Director)
